What is Fraxel® Dual Laser used for?

Effective for treating pigmentation, freckles, age spots and lesions caused by sun damage. Fraxel® Dual Laser utilises two different wavelengths of laser energy, the 1550nm wavelength, and the 1927nm wavelength, to target specific skin concerns. As the laser penetrates the deeper layer of the skin, it stimulates new collagen and elastin production. Book a consultation to learn more today.

  • Dual Wavelengths: Fraxel Dual utilizes two different laser wavelengths (1550nm and 1927nm) to target specific skin concerns. The 1550nm wavelength reaches deeper into the skin to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture, while the 1927nm wavelength targets the skin's surface for pigmentation and sun damage.

    • The 1550nm penetrates deeply and stimulates collagen remodelling through heat, making it a very effective treatment for acne and other types of scarring, textural issues caused by sun damage and fine lines and is great for general rejuvenation.

    • The 1927nm wavelength superficially treats where pigment lives in the skin, so effectively targets pigmentation, freckles, age spots and lesions caused by sun damage. Both wavelengths can be used to treat pores.

Fractional Technology: The Fraxel Dual laser delivers precise, fractional microbeams of laser energy into the skin, creating controlled columns of thermal injury. This fractional approach leaves surrounding tissue unaffected, promoting faster healing and minimal downtime.

Customizable Treatment: The treatment can be tailored to address various skin concerns and is suitable for different skin types and tones. It can target specific areas of concern or treat larger areas, depending on individual needs.

  • The handheld laser device will be applied to the treatment area, delivering precise, fractional microbeams of laser energy into the skin.

During the procedure, patients may experience a sensation of heat, tingling, or mild discomfort. The Fraxel Dual laser system is equipped with a cooling system that cools the skin during the treatment. This helps keep the patient comfortable and reduces the risk of thermal damage to the surrounding skin.

The duration of the Fraxel Dual laser treatment will vary depending on the size of the treatment area and the specific skin concerns being addressed. However, most treatments typically take around 15 to 45 minutes.

  • Expectations & Downtime:

    • The patient will experience a feeling similar to mild sunburn for one to two hours following treatment with some swelling for approximately two days.

    • The skin may have a bronzed appearance for three to fourteen days and may vigorously exfoliate.

    • Complete healing time takes up to two weeks although, “social downtime,” consisting mainly of redness and swelling is approximately two to five days.
