HOW DOES THE HA SKIN BOOSTER PROCEDURE WORK?
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and can be found in many areas such as the joints and skin. In the skin, hyaluronic acid is an important molecule that aids hydration by drawing water in, making the skin look plump and healthy. In this procedure the practitioner utilises a specialised delivery system called the V2 injector which uses tiny needles to penetrate the skin. The use of this device has two key benefits: to deliver hyaluronic acid infused with important amino acids, vitamins and minerals into the correct layer of the skin and secondly to stimulate the body’s natural response to wound healing. The benefits are that the hyaluronic acid deeply nourishes and hydrates the skin giving an immediate plump and glow. The body’s natural response to wound healing is to make more collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are the skin's building blocks and when stimulated to produce more, the skin becomes plumper, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and crepeing. This in turn produces firmer, tighter skin and a more radiant glow.
This procedure produces the best results when 3 treatments are carried out to the same area approximately 4 weeks apart.
WHAT WILL THE PATIENT EXPERIENCE DURING THE HA SKIN BOOSTER PROCEDURE?
This treatment is usually simple, safe and quick. It is what we term a "lunchtime' treatment meaning it takes less than 30 minutes and has very little associated downtime. Your practitioner will begin by dividing the treatment area into three, then using the V2 injector device, small amounts of hyaluronic acid are infused evenly into the skin. As the needles within the device are so fine, discomfort is usually minimal.
WHAT CAN THE PATIENT EXPECT AFTER THE HA SKIN BOOSTER PROCEDURE?
Immediately post treatment some small lumps may be visible on the skin which will generally settle within 24 hours. Some patients who have very fragile skin may experience some bruising and blotchiness which can take up to 5 days to settle. These potential side effects can be covered using a mineral makeup.
Ten days after the first treatment results will be visible and if the correct treatment protocol has been followed they should last for at least 12 months. The longevity of the results are due to the fact that the skin itself is being stimulated and renewed through the production of new collagen and elastin.
