This study is testing a new potential treatment for alopecia areata. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Alopecia areata is characterised by patchy hair loss on the scalp and happens when the immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles leading to hair loss. This usually happens when the hair follicles lose their natural immune protection, often triggered by stress, infection, or other factors.
This clinical trial is testing a new potential medicine, which is a type of antibody therapy. Normally, antibodies are made by the immune system to fight infections, but the study medication is made in a laboratory to target a specific part of the immune system response involved in alopecia areata. Participants will be reimbursed for reasonable expenses associated with study visits.
