Kleresca journey day 1

The Dermatology Institute of Victoria is proud to be the first clinic in the state to offer the revolutionary new acne treatment called Kleresca. In clinical trials Kleresca has been proven as an effective treatment for all types of acne including severe and offers patients an alternative to traditional treatments such as strong medications. So that others wanting to undertake this treatment can see what's in store, we thought that we would document a patient's journey.

SO HOW WILL THIS WORK?

Basically every fortnight we will bring you up to date with our Kleresca patient by showing you photos of her skin, documenting the procedure and talking to her about what she is experiencing.

Kleresca is not a once off treatment, to be effective it requires 12 treatments over 6 weeks, a big commitment for the short term but with huge long term benefits.

At DIV we want to make sure that at the end of your Kleresca journey not only is your skin clear, but that it also glows! So we have put together some great bonuses that you get free of charge when you purchase the DIV Kleresca package

DAY 1 - BEFORE THE FIRST TREATMENT

The Kleresca BioPhotonic gel is applied

Sharon says that, "when the gel was applied it felt cold and where my skin was a bit flaky around my acne it did itch and sting a little, but it was tolerable."

Tara explains that, "the patient is then placed under the Kleresca multi-wavelength LED light for 9 minutes. It's really interesting to watch the gel change  colour as the light activates and transforms it. It starts out a bright yellow and then fades to pink.

Towards the end of the Kleresca session the gel changes colour under the lamp.

"We finish the treatment by once again thoroughly cleansing the face, we then apply an antioxidant serum and sunscreen. The patient can expect to be in the clinic for approximately half an hour," explains Tara

After the light was turned off and was removed my skin continued to feel quite warm for a couple of minutes but then I felt completely normal
— says Sharon

Tara Coetzer nurse at The Dermatology Institute of Victoria says that, " we begin the treatment by thoroughly cleansing the patients face, we then take photos as it's very important we keep a record of their progress. Disposable eye shields are placed over the patients eyes to protect them from the light. The bright orange BioPhotonic gel is then thickly and evenly applied to the entire area, this may be face, neck and or chest"

The patient is placed under the multi-wavelength LED lamp at this stage the gel glows a bright yellow.

Sharon says that, "the light does feel quite close to your face but is warm without being too hot. I actually found it quite relaxing and it's definitely not painful, I had my phone with me so chose to listen to a podcast while the treatment was being conducted."

Immediately after the treatment the patient can appear quite flushed - this usually reduces significantly in the hour after and is generally gone completely within 24 hours. Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment.

THE DAY AFTER TREATMENT

"The day after the treatment I felt completely normal," says Sharon. "I felt like I looked a little flushed and bronzed but this was easily covered by makeup."
