Laser Hair Removal
How does the procedure work?
Laser hair removal is an effective long-term treatment for the reduction of unwanted hair. The laser emits a powerful beam of light that passes harmlessly through the skin, and is absorbed by the hair follicle. By selectively absorbing the laser energy, the hair follicles are disabled, impairing their ability to grow hair. This method is only effective for dark hair as the laser is attracted to pigment so blonde, grey or red hair cannot be treated successfully.
What will the patient experience during the procedure?
A number of laser pulses are accompanied by a tingling or slight burning sensation. The patient is required to wear eye protection.
What can the patient expect after the procedure?
After treatment the area may become red and feel like mild sunburn for a day or so.
