Muscle relaxant injections are very effective in the treatment of expression lines such as crow’s feet, laughter lines, frown lines and horizontal forehead lines. Australian and overseas experience has shown that muscle relaxing injections can be used to treat a variety of unwanted facial expression lines in the upper and lower face and may even be used to lift areas of the face and neck. Not only are these products excellent anti-wrinkle treatments, but can also be used to subtly remodel the shape of a face, or offer a way to achieve a non-invasive, temporary brow lift.
The injected product is a natural, purified protein. These products work by weakening the tiny facial muscles very precisely. Once the muscles are relaxed they cannot be contracted and the expression lines and excess movement are diminished, however, normal facial expression is left unaffected.
The results of the treatment are temporary, lasting about 4-5 months, although the benefits seem to last longer after each treatment.
The Procedure
This treatment is both simple and safe. Small amounts are injected with a very fine needle into several locations. Because the needle is so fine and only a small amount of liquid is used, discomfort is minimised. No sedation or anaesthetic is required and you may return to your usual activities immediately.
